Facts:
She was made a bankrupt more than 20 years ago. At that time, she borrowed her name to help her husband take a bank loan. Unfortunately, things didn’t go well, and in the end, she was the one who had to face the consequences in which she being declared bankrupt by the bank.
She lived under bankruptcy for over twenty years. Throughout the years, she tried seeking help from the Department of Insolvency, but because it was such an old case, no proper solution could be given. She was stuck for a very long time.
She then came to us for help. We took over the matter and represented her to negotiate with both the bank and DGI. The case wasn’t easy as the documents were old, many things were unclear, and we had to keep following up non-stop. But we didn’t give up.
After numerous rounds of negotiation, we successfully helped her settle the debt at more than 50% discount from the original amount.
Once that was done, we represented her in High Court to apply for a Discharge Order, so she could finally be released from bankruptcy. After more than 20 years, she can now finally live her life without the “bankrupt” label. She can travel freely and open a bank account under her own name without any restrictions.
